Hurricane irene question

Dont worry, youre safe.......
ok so i live in newfoundland canada and there is not a doubt in my mind that im gonna be affected. But how bad should it be? i live in carbonear which is about a 35 minute drive from st.johns. so am i in a total **** whole or just ******. well how bad should i get hit???

Hurricanes get their power from warm tropical water; I agree, it will be significantly weakened by the time it gets up to Newfoundland. It will hit you, sure, and there might be some localized flooding, but it won't be bad. (Certainly not as bad as they're worrying it might be in NYC.)

I think it will have dissipated or significantly weakened by the time it reaches Newfoundland. You will not be affected.
