No, a category 1 hurricane has wind speeds around 74–95 mph. Those winds can do minor structural and roof damage. Even if it was flooding or a storm surge occur ed, it will not be enough to totally destroy a house.

Most reasonably built houses won't be badly damaged by the winds. There is a possibility of flooding depending on how far up the River the storm surge goes.
Also, this doesn't apply to trailers or mobile homes. Those are *shredded* by hurricanes. If you're in a mobile home, get out now and go to a shelter.
