When will this Tornado season end? And is this the worst tornado season ever

They say this tornado season is nearly as bad as the one 40 years ago but didn't we have worst a few years ago?

In 1999, we had around 70 tornadoes touch down in Oklahoma alone. It was probably the most tornadoes we had in one day in recorded history. So, I don't think things are getting worse and worse, it's just like a pendulum. We have a really bad storm season, then a year or two where nothing much happens. It's always been this way and, I hope, always will be.

Tornado season is from April to June. Two more months to go! Of course, if you live near the east coast or in the south, you probably won't see anything else like this for years. I watched that storm system for a week on the radar, and it was a unique one. It just kept sitting there over Missouri/Illinois/Indiana/Ohio/Tennessee building up strength for three days.

The relatively cool, dry air from the Rocky Mountains and Canada are especially prevalent in this La Nina year (opposite of El Nino). So, the tornadoes that are spawned by warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico colliding with a dry cold front are more numerous than usual right now. But, the peak of tornado season in North America is actually May and June, tailing off in July. So, look for things to get worse over the next couple of months before they get better.

First off, Global Warming is still a controversial subject. Studies on Arctic Ice have shown that the Earth may possibly go through cycles of warming and cooling. So we very well could be going through a warming period.

Next, we haven't seen an EF-5 since 2008. I wouldn't start worrying about super tornado seasons until we get around 4 or 5 EF-5 tornadoes per year. Yeah this season has been very active, but we've had relatively low activity in past years, where before that we had very active seasons. SO this season is going to be very terrible when it's all done, but I believe the next few seasons wont touch this seasons activity.

The peak time period for tornadoes is April to July. However, tornadoes can happen at any time if the atmospheric conditions are favorable.

This season is starting to look more active than any other season.
