Happy Hiram say: I am traveling through time right now.

Sqdancefan say: Yes. Physics as we know it is not a very good description of the world outside "the matrix" that currently limits our thinking.

Jim Moor say: So far, physics does not support time and space travel as you see in the movies. Sorry.
Current technology can get us to the closest star in 10,000 years at best.
We can only travel forward in time (see Einsteins time dilation theory).
-
Andrew Smith say: No I do not. Not in the way that the average student perceives time travel anyway.
There are too many philosophical objections that render it unbelievable.
However what about a different way.
Let us imagine that, without time travel, all the brainwaves of some other person could be somehow beamed into you.
Would you be them? You would see, feel and think what they are thinking. Your arms and legs would move.
How could you imagine that you are not them.
OK now we store these brainwaves today. Exactly what you are thinking right now. The whole box and dice.
Now a thousand years from now we insert those brainwaves into a target.
Would they now be experiencing what it is like to be you here and now?
Is there any discernable difference between that and "going to the past" as far as the subject is concerned?
The key is that they are REPLAYING the past. Completely unable to alter any of it. And completely oblivious to the fact that they are in the past at any time.
Not only that but when returned how could they have any memories of the trip that they took?
So there would never be any evidence that it had or had not happened. Even if it happened regularly.

Philomel say: There is always a possibility to believe in anything you want to believe in.
-
Zaphod Beeblebrox say: You can BELIEVE anything you want to no matter what medium it comes from. Whether it is a justified belief is something else again. However, this looks plausible in theory: http://www.physics.org/article-questions...
