blue and purple, and had a huge knot on the inside of it. So i went to the doctor and he said i had blood building up into my knee and it was draining into the joints of my knee, so he is sending me for a MRI Wednesday. What can the doctors do to fix this problem?-The key here is to figure out whats the underlying problem thats causing all these things.......
Okay, i went "trick or treating" with my brothers and niece on halloween and i was walking and my knee started to hurt so i didnt think anything about it, i figured it was just from walking because we had walked a long ways. Then my knee just gave out on me and i nearly fell. So i kept on walking back to the car and i got home and my room is up stairs and it nearly killed me going up the steps. then the next morning i got up and my knee was swollen, blue and purple, and had a huge knot on the inside of it. So i went to the doctor and he said i had blood building up into my knee and it was draining into the joints of my knee, so he is sending me for a MRI Wednesday. What can the doctors do to fix this problem?

The key here is to figure out what's the underlying problem that's causing all these things. The MRI will be read by a radiologist who will identify if there is any structural or soft tissue damage. If there is a tear of a ligament, it may require surgery in order to fix it. If there is, indeed, blood identified on the MRI in the joint capsule, the radiologist will be able to identify if there is a fracture of one of the bones forms the knee joint. If there is a broken bone which is also called a fracture, then depending on how bad or complex the fracture is, surgery may or may not be required.

In any event, as you probably know, this is something that is the result of mechanical injury or trauma to the knee, then an orthopaedic surgeon is the doctor who will evaluate and treat the problem.

If, on the other hand, an x-ray plus the MRI suggest that this swelling and blood on the joint is NOT caused from preceding trauma, then you may require a rheumatologist. A rheumatologist is a physician who specializes in diseases of the joints. If that's the issue, then the rheumatologist will want to learn more about the fluid that's in the knee joint so a sample will be obtained. A tiny needle can be used to draw a sample into a syringe and then samples of the fluid can be sent to the laboratory for testing. Then, if the doctor feels it might alleviate the pain from the joint swelling, then he/she might take out a lot of fluid from the joint after obtaining samples for testing.

Please don't be scared and I hope that you feel better really soon :) !

They need to diagnose the underlying cause and fix that. Most often, time will fix the bruising and the blood, but you have to fix the underlying cause.
