I'm 260 pounds, and i wanna take 0.2 mg of clonidine to put me to sleep (0.2 is what the doctor prescribed me) Will it actually help my insomnia? How long will it take till i notice effects?

Clonidine works pretty quickly, 30 minutes to an hour. It may help your insomnia. It is typically given for high blood pressure, but it makes many people who take it for that so sleepy that they can not tolerate it. Take it, lie down and relax and hope for the best.

I used to be 220, and .1 was enough to help me get to sleep. I just had difficulty though, so if you really can't sleep then I wouldn't know. For me, I would take it about an hour before hand, and by the time I was ready to sleep I would fall asleep right away.

becareful with it. I used to take clonidine for my insomnia and got so suck from having such low blood pressure i was rushed to the er. bp was 90/57. i took .3 .. granted i weigh 130lbs. it does work as a sleep aid very well, but be aware of the side affects
