Algebra 2 help ! 10 pts Garueteed :(

So on this problem and various others I keep on getting decimal answers, I think I'm doing them wrong but here's the problem and my answer:

Mental Math: Clear fractions if necessary.

Problem: 7/8x-1/4+3/4x=1/16+x

My answer: -0.3

I really want to do it right but I don't know what I'm doing wrong :(

multiply both sides by 16
14x -4 +12x = 1 + 16x
solve for x
14x + 12x -16x = 1+4
10x = 5
x = 5/10 = 1/2

Multiply by 16
14x-4+12x = 1 + 16x
10x = 5
x = 1/2
