I need help on an algebra problem

to you.3/4n + 16 = 2 - 1/8n.Remember when you move any term to the opposite side of an equation you must change its sign.A positive becomes negative, and the negative becomes a positive.Watch this:3/4n + 1/8n = 2 - 16.......
I have to solve the equation then check my problem. I have no idea how to do this could someone explain how? (Show work) I have about 50 of these problems for homework...

One of them is 3/4n + 16 = 2 - 1/8n ~ another one is~ 2(w - 3) + 5 = 3(w - 1)

Please help me!!

Alright, Da Troller, I will do my best to explain how to do these. They are NOT as bad as they look. I do not know how far you are in math, so I'm probably going too slow for you. Skip ahead whenever you feel like! In your first example get all terms with the variable 'n' on one side of the equation and all the constants on the other side. How? Glad you asked! Follow along as I explain it for you, or, to you.

3/4n + 16 = 2 - 1/8n. Remember when you move any term to the opposite side of an equation you must change it's sign. A positive becomes negative, and the negative becomes a positive. Watch this:

3/4n + 1/8n = 2 - 16. See, the -1/8n is now +1/8n and the +16 we moved is now a -16. Find the Lowest Common Denominator (LCD). What number can 4 and 8 both divide evenly into? Yes, it's 8. To change 3/4 into 8ths, there are two 4's in 8 so multiply the numerator, 3 by 2 and change the denominator to 8:

6/8n + 1/8n = 2 - 16. Now add the 6/8n and 1/8n, then the 2 - 16 like this--easy huh?:

7/8n = -14. To eliminate the fraction '7/8' multiply BOTH sides by 8. What you do on one side you must do to the other to keep the equation equal, right? Right, you got it. Now DO it and it will look like this:

7n =8 x -14. The 'x' means "times" but you knew that, huh. That gives you:

7n = - 112. Now divide both sides by 7 to get 'n' alone:

n = -16. To check this so that you KNOW you are correct, just put -16 in place of 'n':

3/4( -16) + 16 = 2 - 1/8( -16). Nothing to do but the math as indicated:

3/4 ( -16) + 16 = 2 - 1/8 ( -16). This will yield, as your calculator will prove, watch the sign changes!:
