How much tension must a rope withstand if it is used to accelerate a 1053 kg car horizontally along a frictionless surface at 1.19 m/s2?
please show me how to get the answer, i have a terrible teacher and would like to have someone explain it to me!

The force required to cause an acceleration can be calculated from F = m a
So in your case F = 1053 kg. x 1.19 m/s^2 = 1253 N
If the rope is being used to accelerate the car (say with a tow truck) then the rope would have to be able to withstand at least that amount of tension.
