Is it (5/2)a+3 or 5/(2a+3)?

That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking if it's 4=(5/2)a+3 or 4=[5/(2a+3)]? With the way it's written now, I can't tell which it is. You need parenthesis within the parenthesis. But I'll give both answers.

One thing is that you made a mistake. When you do anything to one side of the equation, you must do the same thing to the other side.
_______________________________________…

If the problem is 4/a=(5/2)a+3, then the answer is:
4=a[(5/2)a+3]
4=(5/2)a^2+3a
0=(5/2)a^2+3a-4
Use the quadratic equation.
x=-2 or x=0.8

If the problem is 4/a=5/(2a+3), then the answer is:
4=5a/(2a+3)
4(2a+3)=5a
8a+12=5a
8a-5a+12=0
3a+12=0
3a=0-12
3a=-12
a=-12/3
a=-4

If the problem is 4/a=[5/(2a)]+3, then the answer is:
4=(5/2)+3a
4-(5/2)=3a
(8/2)-(5/2)=3a
3/2=3a
(3/2)(1/3)=a
1/2=a

So the last one must have been the question. This is why you need to write your problems properly with correct parenthesis. We don't know what's written on your paper, what's in the denominator, and what's not.

4=(5/2a+3) times a

=>4=5/2+3a

=>3a=4-5/2

= 3/2

=>a=1/2 Ans.
