Math problem for a friend

from 4 m/s to 36 m/s,Hope this helps! Cheers!.......
I'm posting this math problem for a friend. She is having trouble solving this. It says that a race car's velocity increases from 4 meters per second to 36 meters per second in 4 seconds. She found acceleration: 8 meters per second squared. She needs to find final position. She thinks it is either 18 meters, 80 meters, or 272 meters. Please help!

The Physics formula for distance traveled over time, with initial velocity, V₀, acceleratiopn, "a", and initial distance from "the start", d₀ is:

d(t) = d₀ + V₀t + ½at²

In your case:
• V₀ = 4 m/s
• a = 8 m/s² (as you have calculated correctly)
• d₀ = 0 m (we can only assume this ... as there is no other info about it)
• t = 4 s

∴ d(4) = 0 + 4(4) + ½(8)(4²)

d(4) = 16 + 64 = 80

∴ distance traveled during the 4 s period of acceleration, from 4 m/s to 36 m/s, is 80 m

Hope this helps! Cheers! :)
