Are you talking about extracting the DNA from fossils and producing clones of these preserved species like they did in the Jurassic Park films? That is purely science fiction. The genetic material is so broken down it would be impossible to do without knowing how it was properly constructed in the first place.
-
Because eaven though the physical form of the creature in the amber is well presserved, the cells and DNA has been broken down to it's basic parts a long time ago and will give no information.
-
They can extract DNA but much of it is broken down into fragments we don't know how to put back together.
An animal once dead begins to "digest" itself with hormones and other agents some of which are formed by that break down process.
-
Under ideal conditions, DNA has a half-life of approximately 521 years, meaning that it would be broken down so much as to be useless after about 1 million years.
-
No, the DNA has been broken down by millions of years of age
-
If it's preserved in permafrost or similar they should be able to. Won't be able to do anything with it but if it's in tact shoul be able to
-
Because the tests ordered these "millions of years old" you ask of were made with new BONEs; dried blood still in them!
-
They wouldn't if they could.
They watched "Jurassic Park" too.
-
Perhaps because it would show that evolution is baloney?
