Do you think our sun will ever go super nova?

And Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar won a Nobel Prize in Physics partially for this, so who can doubt it.- Not unless few more Solar massed object combined with the Sun to form a new star.- Yes.Its inevitable.- I think our little sun is headed for White Dwarf status.......

It will never go supernova but in 4.5 billion years or so it will form into a red giant and expand, swallowing Mercury and Venus in the process. Whether it also swallows Earth depends on how much mass has been lost from the sun by then.
Even if Earth is not swallowed, the intense heat form a red giant at the distance of Venus will bake what is left of the Earth so we better find a way out of here by then. It will then shrink to a white dwarf and we can come back and orbit around it in our giant cylindrical space habitats, The white dwarf will stay hot for millions of years even though it is not reacting

Only the most massive stars produce enough energy when the undergo catastrophic core collapse to 'go' supernova. As you will discover if you take the time to do a little research for yourself it requires a star of at least 8 solar masses to produce a supernova.

The Sun will eventually 'die' when it reaches the end of its natural chain of nucleosynthesis. Without going into the science too much the core of the Sun will collapse to become a white dwarf while the outer layers of the Suns atmosphere will be thrown off into space to form a diffuse shell around the core. This forms what we call a planetary nebula.

Our Sun is well below the Chandrasekhar Limit, which is the minimum mass for a star to go supernova. And Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar won a Nobel Prize in Physics partially for this, so who can doubt it.

Not unless few more Solar massed object combined with the Sun to form a new star.
-
No it doesn't have enough mass it will probably just turn into a white dwarf and die out
-
Yes.

It's inevitable.

I think our little sun is headed for White Dwarf status.......... but if it does Supernova, I will be the first to admit that I was wrong! You can count on it.
-
Unless hundreds of nearby planets explode, causing chunks of meteors to hit the sun, and expand its size, no.
-
Nah never. Until doom's day.
-
Nope. It ain't the right type of mass to do that.
