The Bible does not say that earth is only 6,000 years old. Humans say that.
The Bible simply states that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. It does not say how or when he did so. Gen. 1:2 begins where God is preparing the already existing earth for life. How long the earth existed at that time the Bible does not say. Each creative time period was not a literal 24 hrs. Moses summed it up when he called it the creation "Day". He included all the days as one day. The Bible never says that the seventh "Day" ended. Both Paul and Jesus mentioned that the seventh day was still existing in their time. We are still in the seventh day. It has lasted over 6,000 years. People don't understand the book of Genesis. When it says God rested on the seventh day, it means he rested from creating anything new. The end of the seventh day is close. God will take back rule of the earth from Satan and mankind and restore it to the paradise he intended in the first place. The last 1,000 years of the seventh day is called the judgment day. that's pretty interesting because I am from Spain and everyone is Christian - including me - & no one believes that, many don't even know about that theory.
Then I moved to Australia and found that there are people that believe it & they actually teach it at schools ~ I'm not even kidding.
I have read the Bible & it doesn't say that the earth is 6,000 years old. That theory/hypotheses/whatever was designed by some guy that decided to count the number of generations from Adan and Eve and how long everyone lasted and stuff. I am not sure what did he do when the Bible says that some people lasted 450 years old (the Bible actually says that) - but I have a feeling that it is not very accurate.
