then God can certainly make *species* using the natural process of biological evolution. There is no *fundamental* contradiction. But if you need ammunition ... look at the Clergy Letter Project.......
So you need to be able to describe how YOU can believe in God, and accept evolution at the same time.
If you are like me (as I am a Catholic), the key is that God can create things any way he wishes. So if God can make babies using the natural process of human biological reproduction, then God can certainly make *species* using the natural process of biological evolution. There is no *fundamental* contradiction.
But if you need ammunition ... look at the Clergy Letter Project.
This is a letter, signed by 12,765 Christian clergy members (as of 12/30/11) ... that's ministers, priests, bishops, deacons, etc. ... in support of evolution and the idea that Christian faith can co-exist with mainstream topics of science (like evolution).

It's a really short letter (2 paragraphs). But a pretty nice expression of how (I imagine) you think.
Good luck!
See the first four links. The first link has the evidence that conclusively proves that humans share common ancestry with the chimps, apes, and orangutans.
For thousands of years, people have said that their god was behind what they didn't understand -- life, lightning, stars, earthquakes, the origin of life, the world or the universe, etc. Positing a god to supposedly answer a question solves nothing. It just stops you from asking more questions.
What you believe is called "Theistic Evolution." You believe in a god and still accept science and its conclusions. Science allows a god that is a hidden agent in evolution and the universe. However the idea fails theistically, because your god would be responsible for the losses intrinsic to evolution -- such as the fact that 99.9% of species have died out. It also fails morally, because your god would be responsible for the pain that humans and other animals have resulting from vagaries of living. These are not good records for an omniscient, omnipotent, omnibenevolent being.
