I live in the south of The United States and everyone here is very very religious, im from Fort Lauderdale and I believe in god and all that but I also believe that you can accept the theory of evolution and creation. The same with the big bang theory. My classmates all ganged up on me when I tried to explain it to them and I really had no way to explain it to them so they can see what I mean! I just want people to be a bit more open minded.....any suggestions?

Don't try to force people to see what they cannot. There may be any number of reasons that they choose not to hear.. whatever that may be, it is not your job to figure out how to convince them to listen to that which they don't want to hear. The information is out there for those who are smart enough to get it, but, to quote a famous line, "Some people, you just can't reach.."

You can't really change their mind. If they are close-minded people then you can't really change their mind because they are not open to other ideas. You can explain it to them all you like but it will probably do no good. I believe in god as well and am kind of religious but I also do believe in science as well. But I am open minded. So you see, it all depends on the person. So apparently the people you are trying to explain evolution too are not capable of thinking of other things.

Try to point out all of the evidence for evolution. Fossil records, DNA etc. Even if you do this though unfortunately only a few, if any, will listen to you. When you have been brought up to believe something like that it's hard not to take it as fact, especially if the people whom you trust are the ones who have been telling you. It is no coincidence that most scientists aren't religious even though a few are. I wish you the best of luck, but people who are deep set in their beliefs are unlikely to be open minded on the topic As I expect that they will view your words as blasphemy.
