ob1knob say: The sky is anything, not connected to the ground, you can see above you, whatever the distance, a few meters, or million of lightyears:
- The atmosphere (birds, aircrafts, clouds...).
- The near outerspace (satellites - the ISS is visible naked eyes -, Solar System bodies: the Sun the Moon, a few planets, sometimes a comet...)
- Our galaxy (the Milky Way itself and individual stars)
- A few neighbor galaxies (Magellan Clouds)
Are NOT considered belonging to our sky, even if above us:
- Invisible objects, too small or too distant (small satellites, asteroids, billion ly distant galaxies...), arguable though.
- Cave ceilings.
- Human buildings (bridge seen from below, room ceiling, tunnels...)
