did buzz aldrin really shut the lunar module door after exiting for fear an alien would enter the ship while he and neil were out exploring?
didn't he say "i need to lock the door just in case someone comes by?"

Neil, this is Houston. Based on your camera transfer with the LEC, do you foresee any difficulties in SRC transfer? Over.
04 13 41 18
Neil Armstrong (CDR)
Negative.
04 13 41 28
Buzz Aldrin (LMP)
Okay. Now I want to back up and partially close the hatch.
04 13 41 47
Buzz Aldrin (LMP)
Making sure not to lock it on my way out.
04 13 41 53
Neil Armstrong (CDR)
(Laughter) A pretty good thought.
04 13 41 56
Buzz Aldrin (LMP)
That's our home for the next couple of hours and we want to take good care of it. Okay. I'm on the top step and I can look down over the RCU, landing gear pads. It's a very simple matter to hop down from one step to the next.

Ronald 7 say: No
He had F4rted
And didn't want it to get out in what was a pristine Environment
-
Climate Realist say: He sure did.
He thought that there might be cat burglars on the Moon. He did not want anyone to steal his cat.
-
CarolOklaNola say: No. If he shut the door, it was to try to keep the lunar dust out.
-
ANDRE L say: The hatch can be opened from the outside, if necessary. The reason for almost closing the hatch is, I believe, to prevent radiative cooling of the cabin. Neither Neil or Buzz remembered any specific reason.
