Will the total solar eclipse in August 2017 end the world?

answers:
RAT M say: Yes . Abandon ye all hope .

Joshua say: Yes. I have prophesized it to come to pass. When the sun shall be blotted out from the heavens mankind will falter in a state of chaos and panic. The streets will run red with blood and no one shall be safe:)
-
poldi say: Total solar eclipses happen on average every 2 years or so - why would this one be any more dangerous than the dozens that have happened in your lifetime?

An eclipse is simply the moon's shadow on the Earth - WHY and HOW could that end the world?
It is because this one will be visible over North America, and Americans:
1. are scientifically illiterate
2. believe they are the only country on Earth

Art say: An eclipse does what? Stop the light from the sun by putting the world in the way. The world will not end with blocked light. Actually it is just the moon getting in the way of the sun, that happens on a rather regular basis . I don't really care , stopped taking photos in 1968 , it is common it is not a big deal. You think it is the end of the world ,don't worry about lottery tickets you will never win.

tham153 say: There are at least two solar eclipses every year, and can be as many as five. Between 2000 BC and 3000 AD there are 11,878 solar eclipses. Pretty weird thinking to imagine something so common is any kind of threat.
Mars averages 3.4 solar eclipses per day. Jupiter has at least six/jovian day
-
Brigalow Bloke say: So what about the 99.9 plus percent of the Earth where the eclipse is not visible?
-
Roger K say: Please explain to me why would this eclipse be any different from all of the MILLIONS of eclipses that have happened in the past.
-
Clive say: If you think that will end the world, you'll believe anything. Now please explain how all the previous solar eclipses DIDN'T end the world. Why is this one different?
