say: Dont think of it like decimal numbers. Lets add zeroes. .8 and .2 could be 8 and 2. This equals 10. When you take away a zero from 10 you get 1. Or 80 and 20= 100. Remove two zeroes from the equation, and .8 +.2 =10. If you have .8(8/10) of a ruler and .2(2/10) of a ruler you have a ruler.
