You don't like the answers you've got so far? What answer did you *want* to get? That the ancient people must have had super-intelligent aliens travel from intergalactic distances just to impart to them the knowledge that ''the lights in the sky move'' - and - ''the lights in the sky all move together'' and ''all the lights except for the two bright ones (sun and moon) and a very few star-like ones (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) which are all quite readily seen by regular humans - - but regular humans were too stupid and/or too unobservant to have noticed this...

Or perhaps you wanted to be told that this all came from some secret or long-lost super-civilization (like Atlantis or Thea or ... who knows what) that had ''knowledge beyond anything we have in the modern day''.

Of course, the fact that the word ''planet'' is the greek word meaning 'wanderer' - by which they meant - a star that wandered through the heavens rather than staying in fixed position. And that the Chinese used virtually an identical meaning to describe these ''wandering stars''. Those little quibbles mean nothing.

Obviously such naked, cave-dwelling, barbaric know-nothings couldn't possibly be more observant than *you* - - and couldn't possibly have the patience, the knowledge and the skills to record, evaluate and synthesize data such as this better than *you* might be able to do. Surely not.

Nope - must have been aliens. Or Atlanteans. Or time-travelers from the future. Or....
