How do I solve this math problem?

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 14-05-12] [Hit: ]
x = 7 or -10, but we can throw out the negative answer.......
It's #1. I don't know how to solve this and show my work. Help?

-
The area of a triangle is b*h/2. x = altitude.
x(x+3)/2=35
(x^2 + 3x)/2 = 35
x^2 + 3x = 70
x^2 + 3x - 70 = 0
(x+10)(x-7) = 0

x = 7 or -10, but we can throw out the negative answer.
x = 7

-
x(x+3)=70 --->x^2+3x-70=0 --->x = 7
