I'd say you better start reading up on reality. Sounds like your source of education is quite lacking. Wtf are they.. 'teaching' you...?

We've known that for the past six hundred years why would you think we no longer believe the earth is the center of our solar system? Galileo figured out the earth wasn't the center of the universe several hundred years ago
-
We no longer believe earth is the center of the solar system because everything within a star system rotates around it's main star. Our star system is referred to as the SOLar system because our main star, the sun, is named Sol.

IT'S NOT?
SINCE WHEN?
Going around saying the Earth is not the center of the universe is blasphemy and heresy.
Watch your tongue and be careful of who's listening lest ye be reported to the Board of the Holy Inquisition and you be burnt at the stake for being a witch.

Since a few years after Galileo starting looking at the planets in 1609, it became clear that the planets orbited around the sun, not the Earth. This was first noticed with Venus, and then later with Mars. Newton showed that it was true for all the planets.

Well, if there is blame, then point the finger at Galileo. Galileo was devout, a pious man, a god-fearing man. But he was also an engineer, an inventor, an artist. He took what was then a simple child's toy, improved it by figuring how to make better lenses, and then sold the new and improved telescope to merchants and made a few bucks in the process. The telescope he improved, NOT invented mind you, was used by merchants of the day from a tower to scan the horizon to see the masts of sailing ships. This gave them advantage in knowing the ship was going to arrive long before a person could see the sail above the horizon with the naked eye. Galileo, being curious, turned his telescope to the night sky. After all, how could he NOT? So, he sees Jupiter. Nothing new there. Others had seen the planets before him. But what he saw which others had not were 4 of Jupiter's moons. They moved. They followed a regular pattern of movement which could only be explained IF they revolved around Jupiter. And therein lies the rub as Shakespeare said... Galileo realized Copernicus was RIGHT in his theory of a sun centered system instead of an earth centered system. With the sun at the center, and orbiting planets circling the sun, explained one thing which perplexed the church, retrograde motion of the planets. Retrograde motion is where a planet moves across the heavens, stops and goes backwards for a while, and then resumes moving as before. The celestial spheres of the church could NOT explain why the planet stopped, went backwards and then went forwards again. So, the church simply said "god did it" and ignored it thereafter. Galileo publishes his new information about the moons of Jupiter and a sun centered system which backed up Copernicus, and the church got royally pissed at his blasphemy, heresy, that he would challenge the churches word that the earth was at the center. The church put him on trial for heresy and convicted him. They sentenced him to house arrest for the rest of his life and forced him to recant or be excommunicated. Galileo, being the devout believer as he was, was threatened with a fate that for him, was literally worse than death, excommunication. So, he did what he was forced to do, recant his conclusions in public. Finally, 350 years later, the church finally grants Galileo a pardon for his crime of heresy. Which is nothing more than a get out of jail free card. He still is guilty of the crime in the eyes of the church. The ironic thing is, the church knew at that time Galileo was RIGHT (but did not know how to fix the problem), and prosecuted him anyway. The church was having a problem with certain holidays, Easter in particular. Easter was moving. In 1582, the Pope, Gregory, fixed things, by dropping 10 days from October and instituting leap years. The day after October 5th became October 16th, 1582. THAT put Easter back where it was supposed to be and meant it would STAY there. Problem solved, except for that pesky Galileo and his telescope...
