Not being funny, but with those things running around why were they trying to get to Med-lab anyway?

Never mind that. I don't think Ripley's been made answerable for what she did when she rescued the girl from the nest. After she demonstrated the flame-thrower to the queen, why not just slowly back out, get back to the shuttle, and head for the mother ship while the facility became a cloud of vapour the size of Nebraska. The queen wouldn't have known any better and would have happily gone on laying eggs for the next ten minutes until . . .
But NOOOOO, the woman with a gun knows best, doesn't she? She had to take instant revenge and let the old girl know how displeased she was, thereby setting up a train of events that led not only to the deaths of her two companions, but to that hideous creature in the fourth movie. And I'm not just talking about the alien.

They tried - remember?
They had searched the living facility, and didn't find anyone (Alien or human)... then, they found the human's PDT's from inside the Atmospheric reprossessing facility, so they went to check it out - that's when they got attacked. Once outside, they called for "immediate dust-off" from their air patrol... but, they got attacked by an alien and crashed. So...they beat a path back to shelter. THAT'S when they discovered they couldn't immediately uplink to the Sulaco and remote-pilot the other drop-ship....

Recall that in the movie, the drop ship crashed just before they were going to dust off. So they had to stay on the planet, and use the med-lab facility to figure out what sort of bug-hunt they were dealing with. By the way, if I had to choose the coolest weapon besides the light saber, it would be Ripley's M41A pulse rifle / grenade launcher duct taped to a flame thrower. Are you talking to to me? Are you talking to me?

I think your question was not placed in the correct category. This is astronomy and space. Don't let the Yahoo! Answers system automatically select your category. Most times it will go where you did not intend it. As you can see, your question has absolutely nothing to do with Astronomy and Space.

The answer is that in movies people have to be dumb so that the story can go on !! Glaring idiocies are glossed over to continue the story.

they wouldn't have had much of a movie then
