What is the bright star/planet

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-09-16] [Hit: ]
-Venuss the brightest planet and Siriuss the brightest star in the night sky.-Usually the planet most bright and visible at all times is Venus.-jupiter-Maybe it was the North Star?I assume ur not talking about the Sun -_--That was Venus.......
Can anyone tell me what is the star/planet that last night and Thursday night was fairly low from dusk and not far from the moon, (figuratively speaking!) ? thanks

The planet Jupiter rises around 10 p.m. and dominates the sky the rest of the night. Venus is currently too close to the Sun to be observed -- I wish people wouldn't guess at answers.

Jupiter is the only bright object currently near the Moon in the sky, in fact, aside from the Moon, it is the brightest object up all night long. I'm assuming you saw it low in the sky in the East, shortly after sunset. Go back out in a few hours and see if it (and the moon also) is higher in the sky.

You are viewing Jupiter most likely. Normally Venus appears by the moon, but Venus isn't visible currently because its on the other side of the Sun. Jupiter usually comes up not to long after dusk. Currently in TN Jupiter comes up around 8:56 pm.
