If the aliens dont communicate with us first, we shall know when we discover evidence which is so devoid of controversy that it must be accepted as proof. The nature of proof is actually very arbitrary andf personal... what one man may regard as proof another man may argue. Proof is accepted by a society if a majority of people agree that something constitutes proof.
