1. It depends on the topic of research. You may need minimum 2 years and a maximum of any number of years.

2. For Ph.D. do not select the institute. You select the teacher. It is teacher oriented.

3. Any field which you enjoy/

4. If the person who takes you for the Ph.D has a research project, he can pay you Rs 15000/- pm. And you get many things free.

5. Yes you can go to cosmology with M.Sc. in any branches of physics and mathematics. You will get the Ph.D. in Physics not in cosmology.

It depends on the school weather they offer whatever Ph.D program you're interested in. Some college/university doesn't even have Ph.D programs.

So it's your job to do research on what schools offer that.

For now, concentrate on what program you're interested in going for an undergraduate program.
You can decide about PhD after you get you graduate from your college program and got your Masters.
