How to do this: x/2 + x/3 = 10

Its as simple as that.therefore x= 12-Multiply both sides of the equation by the Least Common Denominator and then solve.......
I forgot how to do these please show me the working out and maybe I'll get a light bulb

-
Lowest Common Denominator = 2*3 = 6
3x + 2x = 60
5x = 60
x = 12

-
Find a number that all the denominators go into (2 and 3 both go into 6) so multiply everything by 6:

6(x)/2 + 6(x)/3 = 60

Now simplify the fractions:

3(x) + 2(x) = 60

Expand the brackets:

3x + 2x = 60

Combine the like terms:

5x = 60

Divide both sides by 5:

x = 12

-
X/2 + X/3 = 10
Multiply 2 to both sides.
X + X/3 = 20
The two cancels out. Multiply 3 to both sides.
X + X = 60
The 3 cancels out. Combine like terms.
2x = 60
Divide both sides by 2
X = 30

It's as simple as that.

-
Find a common denominator (AKA cross multiply):
(3/3)(x/2) + (2/2)(x/3) = 10
3x/6 + 2x/6 = 10

Add:
5x/6 = 10

Solve for x:
5x = 60
x = 12

-
x((1/2)+(1/3))=10
x((3/6)+(2/6))=10
x(5/6) = 10
therefore x= 12

-
Multiply both sides of the equation by the Least Common Denominator and then solve. (Looks like the LCD is 6 here)

-
x/2+x/3=10
(3x+2x)/6=10
5x/6=10
5x=10*6=60
x=60/5=12

-
12
