Easy question; random or systematic error

a) The blob of clay started to become dry and brittle after multiple runs and the carts never perfectly stuck together after the collision.

both systematic. you know what they are. a) can be fixed by redesigning the experiment to use a different material.
b) you can measure and account for friction. It always causes the cart to slow so it systematically bias your results.
