Yes, you can.
If you say, "Nope, impossible" you will probably never experience it, or disregard it if you do. Just because an ability isn't tangible like playing guitar, doesn't mean it isn't real.
When someone thinks, they send out hundreds, even thousands of signals around them. These signals are often picked up by people around them, but they go straight to their subconscious mind. However, if these thoughts can be absorbed by the conscious mind, one can process another person's thoughts and therefore "read their mind."
This actually happens very commonly, especially in public places. It's known as "telepathy" and yes, it is very possible... but people often confuse it for their own thoughts. When it's the thought(s) of someone around them.
