i don't get how you can sleep with your eyes open... like, how do you do it? i don't wanna try myself because of the risks but i was wondering. Because i can keep my eyes open and just lay there but i can't fall asleep unless my eyes are closed.

Mylast is correct. It just happens, at the point of fatigue. Its common amongst truckers who have to meet deadlines. They sleep eyes open while driving and sometimes collide.
