An auto, starting from rest, undergoes constant acceleration and covers a distance of 1000
meters. The final speed of the auto is 80 meters/sec. How long does it take the car to cover the
1000 meters?
My textbook says the answer is 25 s but I keep getting 12.5 s (I did 1000m/ 80 meters per second) What am I doing wrong?

Hello,
You must use the formula wit time (t), initial velocity (u), and distance (s) and the final speed (v)
use suvat equation 3
s = (v-u)t/2
and we know u = zero
s = vt/2
t = 2s/v
t = 2*1000 m / 80 m/s
t = 25 sec
Good Luck
