Drugs like these are overprescribed. It would be nice if doctors went back to washing their hands between patients.
It use to be about 20 or 30 years ago a person had have a profound depression to get antidepressant medication, now just showing up to a doctor's office indicates you are unhappy about something and you get a psych diagnosis. It is mostly about repeat business.

If your physician prescribed you 50mg of Zoloft that is probably the dose you need. I would take the prescribed dose, see how you feel and consult with your physician as needed after a week or two.
