What is the distance between (-3,5) and (4,-1)?
How do I work this problem? Is there a formula?
Thanks!-Use the distance formula:
D=√[(x₂-x₁)² + (y₂-y₁)²]
And in this case the points are (-3,5) & (4
Please dont tell me to do my own work, these are the only questions I have gotten stuck on. This is yahoo answers, not yahoo lectures. Thanks in advance to you awesome people who answer!

Find the midpoint of the line segment joining (-5,1) and (-1,6)
How is this done? Is there a formula to use?
Thanks!-Use the midpoint formula
(x₁ + x₂ / 2 , y₁ + y₂ / 2)
Or in this case
[(-5+(-1))/2
a =6a - n_____3 + n
Rearrange the formula to make n the subject?
I got n= -1.5a
Dont think its right, thanks for the help.. :D-assuming the formula is a=(6a-n)/(3+n)
a(3+n)=6a-n
3a + an = 6a-n
an+n =
2x + y = −4
5x + 3y = −6
A. 6
B. 8
C. −6
D. −8-2x + y = -4
5x + 3y = -6
What you must do is find one of the variables. Since its easier to find y, lets solve for y in the first equation:
2x + y =
make all the xs on one side
y = x^2 - 8x - 20
now plug in 0 for y
x^2 - 8x - 20 = 0
solve for x
factor, and you get
(x - 10)(x+2)
x = 10, -2
the x intercepts are
(10, 0) and (-2, 0)-set y =
Find the Equation of the line that has a y intercept of -4 and is parallel to the line with equation y= 9x + 11-y=9x-4-parallel lines will have the same slope
slope formula is y=mx+bm is the slope, b

What is the 20th term of the sequence: -5, -15, -45, -135,...?
Thanks for your help!-The sequence is geometric with common ration of r=3
a_n = (a_1)r^(n-1)
Or in this case
a_20 = (-5)3^19
a_20 = -

Simplify.
What are the excluded values of the original denominator?
1. (3 + 1/y) / (4 + 2/y)
2. [(5/x) - (3/x + 3)] / [(2/x^2 + 3) + (4/x)]
It looks hard, I know. I tried to show the work for the
