Question is: the score on the wechsler adult intelligence scale are approximately Normal with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. How a score is needed to be in the highest 7%

On your calculator, use the InvNorm function. Since you need the top 7%, you need to find the z score associated with the 93 percentile. Insert InvNorm(.93) and hit enter. Your answer should be close to 1.4758. Then use the z = x-µ/(sigma) formula and sollve. Note that µ=100 and sigma= 15 and z=1.4758
1.4758= (x-100)/15
1.4758(15)= x-100
22.137 + 100 = x
122.137 =x
To be in the highest 7%, one must score a 123 (since you can't score a 122.137).
If you have qny questions, just post.
Hope this helped =)

Slightly in excess of 122.
If you use Excel, =NORM.INV(0.93,100,15) returns 122.1369.
