If a and b are 2 odd prime no.s , show that a^2-b^2 is composite

a and b do not have to be prime for this to hold. As long as a and b are integers, a^2 - b^2 will have two factors, a + b and a - b (since a^2 - b^2 factors to (a + b)(a - b) by difference of squares)

((4+x)/3 - 4/3) / x =

sepate (4+x)/3to 4/3 + x/3 [4/3 + x/3 -4/3]/x (x/3)/x multiply by the reciprocal (x/3)*1/x the x cancels out. answer is 1/3.

Given that x=2 is one root of the equation x² + x + m = 0, find the other root and the value of m.

using sum/product of roots method. thanks-substitute x=2 , 4+2+m=0 => m = -6 equation is now, x^2 +x -6 =0 => (x-2)(x+3) = 0 roots are,2, -3-plug in 2 for x in the equation: 2² + 2 + m=0 4+2+m=0 6+
