Can anyone help me with my algebra

6x+3y=15 for y, A=bh for b, and last one C = 5/9(F-32) for F

Okay, here is what you do.. if you are solving for y, you need it alone on one side of the = sign. so... the first problem:

subtract 6x from both sides: 3y=15-6x
divide both sided by 3: y=(15-6x)/3
simplify: y=5-2x
y=5-2x

second problem:

A=bh, you are solving for b

divide both sides by h: b=A/h
b=A/h

Third problem

C=5/9(F-32) solving for F

Divide both sides by 5/9 (this is the same as multiplying by 9/5): (9/5)C=F-32
Add 32 to both sides: (9/5)C+32=F
F=(9/5)C+32

I'll do them in a different order so you can see better what is going on

A=bh for b

A=bh is the same as bh=A

How do you get b by itself???? You need to get rid of h. So divide by h so h top & bottom cancel out. But it's an equation (equal on both sides) so whatever you do to one side, you have to do the same to the other, so also divide the other side by h

bh = A
bh/h = A/h
b = A/h

6x+3y=15
To get y by itself, first subtract 6x from both sides
6x - 6x + 3y = 15 - 6x
3y = 15 - 6x
To get y by itself, divide everything by 3
3y/3 = 15/3 - 6x/3
y = 5 - 2x

Same as 5/9(F-32) = C
Multiply both sides by 9/5 to cancel out the 5/9
9/5*5/9(F-32) = 9/5C
F-32 = 9/5C
Add 32 to both sides
F = 9/5C + 32

1. First you move over the 6x to get y on one side. The equation will look like 3y = -6x+15. then divide by 3 to get y=-2x +5.
2. to get b on one side subtract h. You will get b=A-h.
3. First distribute to get c= 5/9F - 160/9. then add 160/9 to the other side. You should come up with c-160/9=5/9F. Multiply both sides by 9/5 to get 9/5c-32=F.
