Does |2x - 5| + 4 = 0 Have a Soulution..Yes or No 5 Stars to best help

So x= + or - 1/2-no absolute value can be negative.you need a negative value equal to -4 for the solution to have a solution.......
|2x - 5| + 4 = 0
Yes.. or no (empty set)
Thanks

-
|2x-5|+4=0
|2x-5|= -4
This impossible because |2x-5|>/= 0 for all x. The solution set is therefore the empty set, { }.

-
No.
The absolute value of something can be only either positive or zero.
So, |2x - 5| + 4 = 0 essentially asks if there is any way adding 4 to some positive number OR adding 4 to zero will result in 0 ... The answer to that is NO.

.

-
The simple answer is no answer (or empty set).

Long answer-
|2x-5|+4=0
subtract 4 from both sides
|2x-5|= - 4
This will never be true, because absolute values can not be negative.

-
Well, it's not a whole answer. But you would do:
|2x-5|+4=0
2x-5+4=0
2x-5=-4
2x=1
x=1/2

Because the -5 is not by itself, it is not considered a negative. So x= + or - 1/2

-
no absolute value can be negative. you need a negative value equal to -4 for the solution to have a solution.
