Im a 69 year old great-grandma.This is NOT homework.-I agree with the answer of 7.Ill do it step by step so everyone can see the proper way as I guarantee youll get just a wide a variety of answers here.Not a math teacher, but a math major,......
We're having a huge argument about this math problem. I say the answer is 7, and I've had people say the answer is everywhere from 1 to 6. Here's the problem, just as it was presented on facebook. 6-1X0+2/2=?. Any math teachers out there? I say follow the order of operations rule.

By the way, I'm a 69 year old great-grandma. This is NOT homework.

I agree with the answer of 7. I'll do it step by step so everyone can see the proper way as I guarantee you'll get just a wide a variety of answers here.

6 - 1 * 0 + 2 / 2

Multiplication/division (left to right)
6 - 0 + 2 / 2

Multiplication/division (left to right)
6 - 0 + 1

Addition/subtraction (left to right)
6 + 1

Addition/subtraction (left to right)
7

Not a math teacher, but a math major, so close enough I suppose.

-
You have to follow standard order of operations.

It's no big mystery by any stretch of the imagination:

Here's the answer: 6 - 1X0 + 2/2

=> 6 - 0 + 1
=> 6 + 1
=> 7

The answer IS 7....no disputing this one.

Hope this helps. :)

-
You must always follow the order of operations when doing simple algebra, so you are correct.
The correct answer is 7.

-
not a math teacher but 1X0 i assume means 1*x*0 which is always 0 no matter x and therefore the answear would always be 6+2/2 = 7

-
6-1x0+2/2

6-0+1

7 is my guess and no i am not a math teacher

-
well you have to do -1X0 = 0before anything
then 2/2 = 1
6 + 1 = 7
agreed

-
Definitely 7.

-
6 - 0 + 1 = 7

-
Yes, there's no question about it; the answer is 7.

I'm not a math teacher, but I have a math degree.
