I have to draw a graph of Years to Staff numbers. So like say in year 2001 there was 767 staff members. Year 2002 was 800 staff members ect. Which goes on the y-axis and which goes on the x-axis? I know exactly how to do the graph, i'm just having a blank moment with the axies lol. Thank you

year = x axis
# of staff = y axis
# of staff = y axis

The independent variable is customarily assigned the x-axis and the dependent variable is likewise assigned the y-axis. Since one variable is time, which is not dependent on anything, then it will be graphed on the x-axis.

It doesn't matter--you can do it either way. But, traditionally, the numbers (staff members, in this case) would go along the y-axis.
Hope that helps :)
