Percentages? 20 characters

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-05-01] [Hit: ]
Average difference = (8 + 13 + 15 - 4 + 4) / 5 = 7.Therefore you would expect a student who got 58 on the pre-test to score 58 + 7.2 = 70.2 = 70 to the nearest whole number.......
Student A scores 90% on pre-test and 98% on final exam
Student B = 49% on pre-test and 62% on final exam
Student C = 66% pre test and 81% final exam
Student D = 82% pre test and 78% final exam
Student E = 71% pre test and 75% final exam

What score would you expect to see on a final exam for a student who scored 58 on the pre test? Im stuck on this question.

Do you just make it up or...? Could you please explain how you work this out as I really do want to learn :) thanks in advance

You need to work out the AVERAGE percentage difference between the pre-test and final exam marks.
Percentage differences:-
A = 8
B = 13
C = 15
D = -4
E = 4

Average difference = (8 + 13 + 15 - 4 + 4) / 5 = 7.2

Therefore you would expect a student who got 58 on the pre-test to score 58 + 7.2 = 70.2 = 70 to the nearest whole number.
