2 equations combined—x, eliminate y:
7(4y + 3x) + 4(4x - 7y) = 7(25) + 4(- 16)
28y + 21x + 16x - 28y = 175 - 64
37x = 111
x = 3

1st equation—y, substitute x:
4y = 25 - 3(3)
4y = 25 - 9
4y = 16
y = 4

Answer: x = 3, y = 4

Proof—2nd equation:
4(3) = 7(4) - 16
12 = 28 - 16
12 = 12

4y=25-3x times by 7 and 4x=7y-16 or, 7y=4x+16 times by 4 we get

28y=175-21x and 28y=16x+64

so, 16x+64=175-21x
or, 16x+21x=175-64
or, 37x=111
or, x= 111/37 =3

putting this value in 4y=25-3x we get
4y=25-3*3=25-9=16
or, y=16/4=4

Ans. (x,y)=(3,4)

-7y = -4x -16 <---all the negatives cancel so you have y= (4/7)x = (16/7)

7y=16+4x times 3 gives .....21y = 48 +12x Add equations

y = 4
16 = 25 -3x
3x = 9
x = 3 and y = 4

x=3 y=(25-3*3)/4=4
