10 POINTS! Question about EA Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum"

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-11-23] [Hit: ]
Clinically the name is Delirium tremens. He saw evil in most men, madness everywhere and a monster in every animal: cats, dogs, crows.-He was a troubled orphan.......
I'm writing an essay on how his tragic childhood and adult life etc reflect in his writing. Specifically "The Pit and the Pendulum"
if you have ANY ideas on how to relate his background to ANY of his writings--just to get my mind going, I'm not trying to cheat or get other people to do my homework for me--it would be much appreciated! 10 points to best
Thank you so much!

I'm not sure about his childhood but most of his writings, reflected the advanced state of illness (cirrhosis) that provoked him to live in continuous fear and terror of the hallucinations that he experimented all due to the excessive drinking and abuse of alcohol during most of his life. Clinically the name is "Delirium tremens". He saw evil in most men, madness everywhere and a monster in every animal: cats, dogs, crows.

He was a troubled orphan. He was also a drug and alcohol abuser. He was thought to do most of his work under the influence. It seems believable after reading them.
