Unless thats not what youre looking for...2 + k-you distribute the negative. So after that its 3+k-1. Combine like terms and you get 2+k.......
3-(-k+1)
Distribute the negative (basically, remove the Parenthasis and the minus sign in front of them, and then change the signs in side the parenthasis from plus to negative, or negative to plus)
3+k-1
Now subtract the 1 from the three
answer: 2+k

3-(-k+1)

Change the signs:
3(k-1)

Distribute:
3k - 3

Unless that's not what you're looking for...
