What's the linear function

Find the linear function from the points: (3,1) and 2,6)

How do I do this?

First find the slope:

m = 6-1 / 2-3 = -5

Now plug either point and slope into point-slope equation

y = mx + b

I’ll use the first point (3,1)

1 = (-5)(3) + b

16 = b

So the desired equation is

y = -5x + 16

:)

Slope = (6-1)/(2-3) = -5
y-1 = -5(x-3)
y-1=-5x+15
y=-5x+16
