Nobody is saying the eruption is "past due" except loonies.
Yellowstone has had both magmatic and explosive hydrothermal eruptions in "recent" geological time. It seems pretty unlikely that the kind of "super" eruptions which formed the Snake River Plain are coming again soon.
The USA will likely be long gone before this happens.

Settle down don't get paranoid, basically we are all screwed, it would be a global event more i think of a worry would be a bog standard volcano on gran canaria if it blows. The landslide would displace such an amount of water to send a wave that by the time it hit the eastern seaboard of America to it would create tidal wave of upto half a kilometer high doing 300 mph. now that is freaky
