.now we multiply the 2nd by -4 and the 3rd by 7 and add ---> 3rd..3.........
Can someone please help me reduce this matrix? Thank you

3 1 -2 5 1
1 5 2 4 1
1 3 1 3 1

-
the standard technique would be to multiply the 1st by " - 1 / 3" and add to the 2nd --> new 2nd

same for the 3rd --> new 3rd...this introduces fractions { and they are difficult to type } so

1st - 3 x 2nd---> 2nd and 1st - 3 x 3rd ---> 3rd...

now we multiply the 2nd by -4 and the 3rd by 7 and add ---> 3rd..new matrix is

3... 1....-2...5....1
0 -14 -8 -7 - 2
0.... 0...-3...0....-6...now divide 3rd by - 3 and start going up..you finish
