People in my sister's school are even allowed to skip Precalc if they do really well in Alg2/Trig.
I'm in Precalc right now, and all the stuff we're doing seems to be stuff we did last year in Alg2/Trig.

Are you learning about sin cos tan csc sec and cot? It seems simple at first but then they go into the whole positive and negative signs with the quadrants and stuff. In the high school I went to, the advanced students went from Algebra 2 to PreCal and the others went from Trig to PreCal. I don't know; it all depends on the school.
Check out this site: http://www.sparknotes.com/math/ See what they have for Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and PreCalculus. It must be all different.
In my precal class, they really went into detail about the trig functions. It was so much more information than what I had learned in algebra 2. (Algebra 2 and Trigonometry were bunched together into one class.) In calculus, you definitely need to know trig functions! I thought those were the only functions but apparently they also have hyperbolic function: sinh, cosh, tanh, coth, sech, csch. Crazy, isn't it?

I skipped pre-calc started calc AB from junior year. i still got As throughout the year and got a 4 on the AP. most honor students from last years classes can skip it in my school (meaning you get straight A's or you like the subject well and you're dedicated to finish assignments). if you know the basics, i don't see why you shouldn't as well.
however, one of my best friends decided not to because she said pre-calc was the level that we were suppose to do when we were juniors. but my other friends and i were pretty eager to start calc AB because we hated slow paced classes. but we got more homework than the other class.
i don't think it's a necessary course, but only some schools allow students to skip the precalc. maybe you should tell your parents about it, and then ask the teacher together.
