Thanks its for homework from smallest to biggest
-
you have to make the denominators the same
eg:
3/4 and 7/12
4 goes into 12, 3 times, so:
9/12 and 7/12
3/4 is bigger
eg:
3/4 and 7/12
4 goes into 12, 3 times, so:
9/12 and 7/12
3/4 is bigger

Covert them to the same denominator and then just order them like any other numbers.
For example, with the following numbers:
1/3, 3/7 and 2/5:
3 * 7 * 5 = 105, so we will make them all have a 105 denominator.
1/3
= (1 * 7 * 5) / 105
= 35 / 105
3/7
= (3 * 3 * 5) / 105
= 45 / 105
2/5
= (2 * 3 * 7) / 105
= 42 / 105
So the order from smallest to largest goes:
35/105, 42/105, 45/105
These were originally:
1/3, 2/5, 3/7
For example, with the following numbers:
1/3, 3/7 and 2/5:
3 * 7 * 5 = 105, so we will make them all have a 105 denominator.
1/3
= (1 * 7 * 5) / 105
= 35 / 105
3/7
= (3 * 3 * 5) / 105
= 45 / 105
2/5
= (2 * 3 * 7) / 105
= 42 / 105
So the order from smallest to largest goes:
35/105, 42/105, 45/105
These were originally:
1/3, 2/5, 3/7

find the lcd then express them all with that denominator then easy to compare
