Who made it a scientific fact and said the fastest thing there is, is the speed of light? Don't give me any Einstein crap, because he had the theory not the fact. I want to know because there were recent studies of subatomic particles traveling faster than the speed of light and I truly despise the person who decided it was a fact.

light was known to have a finite speed by observations of the moons of jupiter and the time they were seen compared to the their time of rotation,, 1700s or so.
fairly good estimates were available for C the speed of light by the early 1800s
in 1850 James clark Maxwell used calculus and what was known of electrical and magnetism's to predict from math that light should travel through empty space at about 186,000 miles a second or 300,000,000 meter/ sec. that were remarkably close to actual measurement
in about 1890 Michelson and Morley did a lab experiment to show the motion of the earth through the "aether" or empty space could be measured.They always failed and to the day he died in the mid 1900s, Michelson thought he had failed.
actually he had succeeded brilliantly

one of his minor predictions explained the sun's energy and said E = MC^2, the japanese agreed, he must have been right when the A Bomb exploded.

2) anything that is matter and has mass can only travel at Less then C
3) there are mathematical solutions that say something might exist , we call it a "tachyon" for "really really fast" that can never travel SLOWER than C. Tachyons have never ever been detected
the report of the faster than light neutrino is has NOT be duplicated and may have many possible hidden errors in that experiment
When and if it is duplicated and proven correct Einstein's theory , like all Scientific theory's will have to be modified or replaced.. that is how science always works
